Media mention: Public service associate gives mental health tips during COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic is forcing hundreds of millions of people to modify their behavior, from sheltering-in-place to locking down public venues.
Linda Logan, who holds a joint appointment as a public service associate in the Department of Counseling and Human Development Services and UGA’s College of Pharmacy, says stress reactions caused by having to change behavior during COVID-19 is natural and expected.
“All of the grocery stores that have been stripped—of chicken and beef and all the cleaning supplies and masks—all these things just show the degree of fear and over-preparation perhaps that might be going on,” says Logan, who was quoted in a WUGA broadcast. “This is not a negative thing necessarily. We need to acknowledge that we feel this way, and we shouldn’t be upset with ourselves or each other.”
