IES announces first two FY21 grant competitions in education research

The National Center for Education Research (NCER) at the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) released its first two funding announcements for fiscal year 2021.

  • Statistical and Research Methodology in Education (84.305D): This program provides funding to develop and test a wide range of methodological and statistical tools to better help applied education scientists conduct rigorous education research. NCER invites applications for FY21 under two topics, regular and early career.
  • Using Longitudinal Data to Support State Education Policymaking (84.305S): This program intends to expand the research use of State Longitudinal Data Systems to examine long-term learner outcomes and pathways to provide evidence for state education policymaking. State education agencies can apply for these grants on their own or in collaboration with other organizations to analyze the data in their own SLDS and examine long-term trends in key issues, programs, and policies affecting learner outcomes. Through this new grant program, IES will increase its support for the research use of SLDS beyond its ongoing research grants program and Grants for Statewide Longitudinal Data Systems.

All application packages will be available on Thursday, May 7. The application deadline is Thursday, July 30. For more information about IES research programs, application process, and deadlines, visit the IES funding opportunities webpage.

Please contact Grace Thornton, Paul Davis, or Tony Hall if you are interested in pursuing either of these opportunities.
