From the Dean: Thank you; PSC review submitted

I apologize for omitting Paige Tompkins from the initial post and appreciate the tremendous amount of work she has done on the PSC report, as well as in her role as our liaison to the PSC, RESA Board of Control, and other partners.

I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who played a role in submitting documentation for the upcoming Georgia Professional Standards Commission review of our educator preparation programs. This review occurs every seven years and requires three years of data for every program that leads to certification. Preparing the review has been arduous work, and it was only possible with the diligent efforts of program coordinators, department heads, and staff members.

The documentation submitted to the GaPSC includes over 2,000 documents to show compliance with standards across 39 different programs in our College and three other colleges at UGA. I particularly want to express my appreciation to Stacey Neuharth-Pritchett, who has provided incredible leadership to develop the infrastructure for successful collection of data and documentation of our students’ learning. Her deep knowledge and experience with state and national review processes has been crucial to ensuring we are collecting evidence that will withstand scrutiny while at the same time placing minimal burden on our students and faculty.

I also want to commend and thank the team in the Office of Academic Programs, including Paige Tompkins, Krista Vanderpool, Shayla Lee, Anne McDonald, and Kate Character, for the important and often behind-the-scenes roles they have played in preparing the review.

The PSC-selected review committee will begin its formative review of our documentation on Monday, June 15, and our site visit is scheduled for January 31-February 2, 2021. I am confident they will find our programs to be of high quality thanks to the work of the many people who contributed to the preparation of review materials.
