Orientation for incoming faculty

The Office of Faculty Affairs is pleased to announce Keys to UGA: New Faculty Academy, a new, expanded orientation series for incoming faculty.

The series will kick off on Tuesday, Aug. 4, with the first session, previously known as New Faculty Orientation (NFO). The one-day event will be followed on Wednesday, Aug. 5 and Thursday, Aug. 6 with additional sessions for instructional faculty. Throughout the academic year, Keys to UGA: New Faculty Academy will continue with events open to all faculty and will focus on foundational information from the Office of Research, Public Service and Outreach, Student Affairs, and other units.

The kickoff session on Aug. 4 will be a half-day virtual event. President Jere W. Morehead and Provost S. Jack Hu will welcome incoming faculty and reflect on UGA’s tripartite mission and strategies for enhancing faculty success. In addition, the morning will include two longstanding, popular components of the NFO, a panel with UGA leaders offering “Strategies to Ensure Smooth Sailing” and an overview titled “UGA Traditions, Legends, and Lingo.”

The orientation will continue with an array of workshops on Aug. 5 and Aug. 6 that are strongly encouraged for all incoming faculty members with instructional assignments to attend. Registration and additional information can be found on UGA’s New Faculty Resources webpage.
