Remembering professor emeritus Michael J. Hannafin

Michael J. Hannafin passed away on Sunday, July 26 after a long-term illness. His wife Kathy, son Blaine, and daughter Colleen were with him at his home in Athens, Georgia.

Hannafin was an endowed professor in the Department of Educational Psychology. Additionally, he served as the Charles H. Wheatley Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar in Technology-Enhanced Learning and was the director of the Learning and Performance Support Lab.

As a scholar, Hannafin influenced the field of instructional technology, having hundreds of publications throughout his career. He was a dedicated mentor to his many advisees, most of whom have gone on to academic careers of their own. His contributions through scholarship and mentorship continue to have an impact today.
