Cahnmann-Taylor to speak about Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program

Melisa (Misha) Cahnmann-Taylor, a professor in the Department of Language and Literacy Education, is conducting an informational session via Zoom on Wednesday, Sept. 2 for UGA faculty interested in applying to the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program. The session will provide an introduction to Fulbright, highlight Cahnmann-Taylor’s experience as a UGA Fulbright Scholar, and answer questions regarding how to prepare as Fulbright scholars from application through experience and return. UGA colleagues who have also experienced Fulbright positions are warmly welcomed to attend and share their experiences.

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program offers approximately 470 teaching, research, or combination teaching/research awards in over 125 countries. Opportunities are available for college and university faculty and administrators as well as for professionals, artists, journalists, scientists, lawyers, independent scholars, and many others. In addition to several new program models designed to meet the changing needs of U.S. academics and professionals, Fulbright offers flexible awards and multi-country opportunities.

For the 2021-2022 academic year, many awards seek scholars and professionals who can use their expertise to conduct innovative research and lead teaching projects in the discipline of education. Specializations are diverse and range from distance and technology integrated learning; international, comparative, and American higher education; curriculum development and teaching methodologies; accreditation processes and governance; texts and theory; arts and practice; educational reform; policy studies in education; and mathematics and science education. The application deadline for 2021-2022 academic year opportunities is Tuesday, Sept. 15.
