Participate in UGA's Community of Care program
UGA’s Student Care and Outreach and partners in the University Health Center, including Counseling and Psychiatric Services and Health Promotions, have launched the University’s Community of Care.
The goals of this program are to:
- Increase awareness of mental health issues facing students (undergraduate and graduate/professional students)
- Increase awareness of UGA resources available for students
- Offer strategies for basic intervention techniques for faculty (i.e. how do/should faculty respond to individual students)
- Offer strategies for creating a culture of care/awareness on campus
Staff from these units will deliver the content of the program in an interactive session. Faculty members who participate in this two-hour training will become part of the University’s Community of Care, with a designation much like faculty, staff, and students who engage in the Student Veterans Resource Center’s Got Your Six program and the LGBT Resource Center’s Safe Space program.
Given the anticipated challenges that students, faculty, and staff will face in the coming weeks and months, we have accelerated the formal launch of the program and will be offering sessions virtually via Zoom.
Participation in each session is limited to 30 faculty members (programs for staff and students will roll out at a later date). Please register for one of the listed upcoming sessions. Registration is required.
