Researchers work to improve remote lab learning

Researchers at the University of Georgia, including Andrew Jackson, an assistant professor in the Department of Career and Information Studies, are studying ways to improve remote laboratory learning and enhance virtual learning experiences.

The project, funded by a $300,000 grant from the National Science Foundation, aims to build a better understanding of user experience in remote environments. The study’s findings can provide insights on what works well in the existing environment and offer clues on how the broader remote learning experience might be improved.

“With the recent changes to instruction due to COVID-19, laboratories face the challenge of equipping students with skills that typically come from hands-on experience,” said Jackson. “Our project builds fundamental knowledge that will help teachers continue providing real-world experiences and help students be successful in navigating this new learning environment.”
