September SRG4U: Updates and takeaways

It’s been a hot minute, but your Staff Representative Group (SRG) is back at it, having officially started the year with an August virtual meeting. Spring and summer brought a multitude of emotions for all staff and while SRG is sad that we weren’t able to enjoy our annual spring events—the ice cream social and staff retreat—we found ourselves facing a national crisis with the COVID-19 pandemic and witnessing brutal racial injustices.

SRG stood, and still stands, in solidarity with student ambassadors, the Faculty Senate, and the Leadership Council to denounce racism. If you have not read our joint statements, please take a moment to do so now. The COEfyi bulletin containing these statements may be archived, but know that your SRG is as committed today as we were in June to remain unequivocally united in the fight against injustice and discrimination against Black people and people of color.

The new year has brought some new faces to SRG, and we encourage you to visit the Staff Representative Group’s webpage to see your unit’s representative.

Concerns, comments, and questions can be brought to your SRG representative or to SRG chair Dana Barnhart. We are here to be a voice for staff, and we stand committed to fostering community and support for staff of the Mary Frances Early College of Education.
