Update from the Office of School Engagement

The primary direction for the Office of School Engagement (OSE) in 2020-2021 will be to support conversations this fall around the Reconceptualizing Teacher Education work groups in concert with the report issued from the OSE Task Force. We will share the reports from the Reconceptualizing Teacher Education work groups with our Clarke County School District (CCSD) partners as those concentration areas are the same areas in which CCSD is interested. After Labor Day, the College will convene interested parties to discuss the reports and generate the next steps, which will include engagement from CCSD educators as well as others.

The four priority areas established by the UGA-CCSD Executive Committee include:

  • Integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion across university learning and preK-12 student experiences
  • Looking for approaches to weave social and emotional learning in both learning environments
  • Thinking through ways to strengthen the teacher, leader, counselor, and psychologist pipelines
  • Exploring spaces where both parties might support the induction of new members of the preK-12 community

During 2020-2021, OSE will begin to develop and strengthen partnerships with other school districts in the northeast Georgia region.
