The UGA Office of Faculty Affairs offers a range of programs in support of faculty development and success. All sessions will be held via Zoom this fall. Please register via the Professional Education Portal. Upcoming programs are listed below:

Connecting in the Time of Corona: Techniques to Listen and be Heard

This interactive webinar is designed to boost leadership communication skills.

Constructive Conflict Engagement in Higher Education

This webinar will help you apply principles from the literature in organizational psychology and conflict management to make conflict engagements more constructive.

Faculty Interest Groups

Join like-minded peers to pursue shared interests, form a book club, or create a walking group.

Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs)

FLCs provide comradery and enhance careers. The Office of Faculty Affairs co-sponsors two FLCs with the Center for Teaching and Learning:

  • Non-Tenure-Track Faculty
  • Advancing the Scholarship and Praxis of Transformative Mentoring

Faculty Performance Evaluations and Mentoring

This interactive workshop is designed for those who mentor and supervise faculty. It will include small group discussions on structuring effective faculty evaluations, developing performance criteria, and fostering faculty success all year.

Faculty Search Committee Training

This workshop is geared for faculty search committee chairs and members. Staff who support search committee work are also welcome. Participants will learn policies, procedures, and best practices, including diversifying the candidate pool, for conducting searches. All sessions are held via Zoom. Camera and microphone required.

Fostering Equity and Inclusion to Enrich Mentoring Relationships

Participants will increase awareness and learn techniques to bridge differences while building strong mentor/mentee relationships.

Koru Mindfulness and Meditation Series for Faculty

This series offers a four-week opportunity to learn and practice skills that support well-being.

Promotion and Tenure Procedures Workshop

This workshop offers tips for navigating the guidelines for appointment, promotion and tenure, and will include an overview of important time points prior to and during the application process. Academic (tenure-track/tenured) and clinical rank faculty, promotion and tenure unit heads, and support staff who would like to better understand promotion and tenure procedures for these faculty ranks are encouraged to attend.
