Call for nominations: 2021 Engaged Scholar Award

UGA’s Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach (PSO) is now accepting nominations for the 2021 Engaged Scholar Award. Established in 2008, the annual Engaged Scholar Award recognizes a tenured faculty member for contributions to advancing public service, outreach, and community engagement at UGA. Nominations are due to the PSO by 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29.

This honor recognizes the awardee’s significant engaged scholarship endeavors, such as research and scholarship that is conducted for the benefit of, and in partnership with, a community (broadly defined); curricular engagement of students in academic service-learning courses; or mutually beneficial community-university partnerships that address critical community needs.

One scholar will be selected, and the awardee will receive a $5,000 faculty development grant from the PSO to sustain current engaged scholar endeavors or to develop new ones. The awardee will be recognized at UGA’s PSO annual meeting, scheduled for Honors Week in April.

Permanent, full-time tenured associate or full professors are eligible for the award. Please review the guidelines on the award webpage. If you have any questions regarding the criteria or the process, please contact Paul J. Brooks, associate vice president, at 706-542-6167 or via email.
