Call for nominations: Outstanding Undergraduate Academic Advisor Awards

Nominations are now being accepted for the UGA Outstanding Undergraduate Academic Advisor Awards.

As in previous years, one award will be given to an experienced professional advisor and one award to an outstanding new advisor. In 2018, we were pleased to announce two additional forms of recognition for outstanding advising practices: outstanding advising administrator, and excellence in advising special populations. These two awards will continue to be recognized as distinct categories again this year. Recipients in all categories will be recognized by the Office of the Vice President for Instruction. In addition, those selected in the outstanding new advisor, outstanding professional advisor, and outstanding advising administrator categories will be nominated for the equivalent award given by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).

Nomination rules:

  • Nominations are only accepted from Dean’s offices, the Exploratory Center, the Pre-Professional Advising Office, and the Director of the Honors Program. Please limit the number of nominees from your school/college/unit to three per category.
  • All University of Georgia locations where undergraduate students are enrolled and advised are eligible.
  • Each college should develop a way to contact the students of the nominee(s) to solicit their recommendations. Please note that the intent is for this awards program to be driven by students.
  • Previous winners of the award are not eligible for nomination again for five years after their first award.

All award nomination materials should be submitted to Takenya Moore in the Office of Faculty and Staff Services by 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 15, in order to ensure time for college review and submission to the university level.
