Seeking innovative instructors for the Torrance Center's educational programs

The Mary Frances Early College of Education’s Torrance Center for Creativity and Talent Development is looking to recruit new instructors to design and run innovative, state-of-the-art courses for middle and high school students as part of the spring 2021 Beyonders Challenge program.

Torrance instructors are excellent teachers who are passionate about their subjects of study and are skilled at teaching complex and fascinating topics to young people. The Torrance Center is seeking to recruit new instructors and course proposals that can be guided via an online format within a 2-3 hour period. All topics are welcome; the preference is for courses with a project-based, applied, and/or interdisciplinary focus. The spring 2021 Beyonders Challenge program will run February-May. The ability to teach multiple iterations of the proposed course is ideal. Dates and hours will be discussed during the interview process.

You must be a graduate student or professional in your field to be eligible to apply for this opportunity. If selected for an interview, you will be required to give a 10-15 minute demo of a teaching activity similar to the one you would be doing with your students (essentially, a snapshot of your course). Experience teaching online courses for middle and or high school students is desired, but not required. Instructor pay ranges between $150-$500 depending on the course duration and number of sessions offered per semester.
