Celebrate the 60th anniversary of UGA's desegregation

As we approach the College’s one-year anniversary since being named in honor of Mary Frances Early, we hope you will celebrate this important time in history through a series of university-wide events held in honor of the 60th anniversary of desegregation at the University of Georgia.

To view a full list of events, visit UGA’s master calendar. Below is an event that may be of interest to you:

An Education in Georgia: Looking toward the Future

To wrap up the campus-wide reading event for “Closing Event: An Education in Georgia: Looking toward the Future” (UGA Press), Mary Frances Early, music educator, civil rights icon, and the first African American student to graduate from UGA and Phaidra Buchanan, a College senior majoring in social studies education and minoring in German and UGA’s first African American Rhodes Scholar, will be in conversation with moderator Cynthia Dillard, Mary Frances Early Endowed Professor of Teacher Education at the College, to discuss the past, present, and future of a desegregated UGA.

This is a free virtual event open to the UGA community and the public at large. Registration is required to attend.
