First-Year Odyssey proposals due Feb. 28

The First-Year Odyssey Seminar program is now accepting seminar proposals for fall 2021 and spring 2022. The deadline to submit proposals is Sunday, Feb. 28. You will be notified in March if your seminar is approved.

Please submit a proposal and bring your research to the attention of our first-year students. Students are eager to learn about you and your work and several have mentioned that they would like to have more seminar options that include discussions of multiculturalism, diversity, and inclusion.

To submit a proposal, please log into the First-Year Odyssey (FYO) website. From the task list, select either “propose a new seminar” or “propose a previously approved seminar.”

If you choose “propose a previously approved seminar,” a list of all the seminars you have taught in the past will be displayed. When you have made a selection from the list of seminars, you will then have two new options:

  • Option 1: You can edit some or all parts of the seminar (title, description, instructor information, etc.). Indeed, we encourage you to do this to ensure your information is fresh and gives students a sense of how engaging your seminar will be.
  • Option 2: You can submit the previously taught seminar without any changes.

You can check the status of your proposal at any time by clicking on “browse proposals” on the right-hand menu of the FYO faculty page. You may want to alert your department head and the Dean’s Office that you are submitting a proposal.

For information about the program, including the purpose, goals, and faculty resources, please visit the FYO website.

The FYO team will be glad to answer questions and assist you with the proposal form. Please email us or call 706-542-6358.
