Attend Jane Addams, bell hooks event on March 11
- Date: Thursday, March 11
- Time: Noon-1 p.m.
- Location: Zoom
- Facilitators: Stephanie Jones, Department of Educational Theory and Practice
- Presenters: Katie King, Christina Gillespie, Elizabeth Spaulding, and Kali Thompson, Department of Educational Theory and Practice
In this session, graduate students in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice will present key ideas from Jane Addams’ work and writing about the Hull House (1889-1935) alongside key ideas from contemporary feminist scholar bell hooks’ work including “Feminism is for Everybody” (2014).
They will make the argument that a radical, visionary feminist teacher education is an ethical imperative for educating our university students in their own best interests in the present and for their justice-oriented teaching in the future. Following a 20-30 minute interactive presentation, the facilitator will invite questions, comments, and conversations.
