Media mention: Ardoin discusses remote learning, uncovering the root of children's academic struggles

Scott Ardoin, professor and department head of the Department of Educational Psychology and co-director of the Center for Autism and Behavioral Education Research, discussed how remote learning during the pandemic has exposed children’s academic struggles in an article for Family Matters.

Ardoin notes that both dyslexia and ADHD can be difficult for parents to detect, since they typically don’t have a comparison group (like other kids in a classroom). While schools often help parents identify the reasons for why a child may be struggling academically, these issues sometimes go unnoticed.
