From the Dean: Staff Appreciation Week

Dear Mary Frances Early College of Education staff,

It’s Staff Appreciation Week, but setting aside a week to honor you doesn’t do justice to the valuable roles you play in our College. In an ordinary year, you do so much, often behind the scenes, to keep things running smoothly. You manage complex tasks effortlessly; soothe frazzled nerves of students and faculty; keep track of myriad people, objects, appointments, and events; respond to last-minute emergencies that you did not create; perform hundreds of tasks that no one else sees; and you do it all with cheerful dedication. But in the last 15 months, you have done all of that and more. And you’ve done it remotely, shuttling back and forth between home and work offices, problem-solving through uncertain situations, responding to lots of inquiries about the “new normal,” making sure public spaces in your units were safe, and being responsive to new kinds of requests from faculty, students, and fellow staff members. And again, you did it calmly, efficiently, and with an unwavering commitment to your unit, the College, and the University.

On behalf of the faculty and students in the College, thank you for all that you do every day to make our College the best it can be. You and your work are truly valued and appreciated.

I hope each of you is able to find some time to recharge over the summer.

With appreciation,
Denise A. Spangler
Dean
