Upcoming faculty development opportunities for 2021-22
The Office of Faculty and Staff Services will begin offering some faculty development opportunities again in 2021-22.
Fall 2021 Faculty Success Program
- Application deadline: Saturday, May 15
The College will support a cohort to join the Faculty Success Program for fall 2021. The program is for tenure-track and tenured faculty who “are looking for the perfect combination of empirically-tested methods to improve research productivity through intense accountability, coaching and peer support, and to propel their work-life balance and personal growth to a whole new level.” This is an intensive, semester-long program.
College participants will be expected to fully participate in the program as well as attend three one-hour sessions with the associate dean for faculty and staff services throughout the semester—before, during, and after participating in the program. It is our hope that program participants will bring back what they learn to the College.
Note: Only faculty who have budgeted research time are eligible for this program.
To apply, please fill out our online form.
If you have any questions about the program or would like to talk to a former College participant of the program, please email Ed Delgado-Romero, associate dean for faculty and staff services. For more information about the program, read the program description on the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NFCDD) website.
As a reminder, faculty can claim a free membership to NFCDD by visiting the organization’s website. Under the “Services” menu, select “Institutional Members,” and then click on the University of Georgia link. Be sure to use your UGA email address to create an account. There are a variety of resources available on the website related to succeeding in academia. All doctoral students can also claim a free membership, which gives access to the same resources, as well as to the Dissertation Success Program for free.
Spring 2022 Research Semester Program
- Proposal deadline: 5 p.m. Thursday, July 1
To support faculty members in their lifelong development as scholars, the College of Education provides an opportunity for faculty members to engage in pursuits that enhance their scholarship, revitalize their creative energy, and inform them of new and innovative knowledge and practices with the ultimate goal of developing and maintaining their scholarship through a research semester.
To support this development, a faculty member may request one semester for intensive research in which s/he is released from instruction (up to two courses) and institutional service activities. Where needed, the College will replace the instruction to avoid the loss of credit hour production, and the department head will coordinate the coverage of other duties.
All proposals from a department must be rank ordered and submitted by the department head to the Office of Faculty and Staff Services. Information on eligibility, proposal requirements, and criteria for selection can be found on the College’s internal resources website.
