College welcomes five new department heads

The Mary Frances Early College of Education welcomes five new department heads this summer/fall.

  • Karen Bryant, clinical associate professor of lifelong education, administration, and policy, will serve as department head of the Department of Lifelong Education, Administration, and Policy effective Aug. 1. She follows Kathleen deMarrais, who served as department head for eight years and was formerly an associate dean for academic programs and department head of the Department of Social Science Education.
  • John Dayton, professor of lifelong education, administration, and policy, will serve as department head of the Department of Counseling and Human Development Services effective Aug. 1. Dayton follows Laura Dean, who served as interim department head for one year and Brian Glaser, who served as department head the previous six years.
  • Bethany Hamilton-Jones, clinical associate professor of communication sciences and special education, will serve as department head of the Department of Communication Sciences and Special Education effective Aug. 1. She follows Cindy Vail, who served as department head for six years.
  • Julie Kittleson, associate professor of mathematics, science, and social studies education, will serve as department head of the Department of Educational Theory and Practice effective July 1. She follows Gayle Andrews, who served as department head for three years.
  • Amy Reschly, professor of educational psychology, will serve as department head of the Department of Educational Psychology effective Aug. 1. She follows Scott Ardoin, who served as department head for four years.
