Media mention: Salaga quoted on basketball campaign as COVID-19 restrictions ease
The Atlanta Hawks—like many other teams in the National Basketball Association—have lost millions during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, as COVID-19 subsides and restrictions are lifted, the team seeks to take advantage of the market demand for sports.
The Hawks recently invested in robust marketing campaigns to remind Atlanta that they remain strong despite the pandemic, hoping to translate to an increase in engagement and revenue.
“This is the first step to re-engage the fan base and try to legitimize the Hawks as an entertainment and destination event in the market,” said Steven Salaga, an assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology, who was quoted in the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
