Remembering faculty member Gerald R. Firth

We are saddened to announce the passing of Gerald R. Firth, Ed.D. We extend our sympathies to Firth’s family.

Firth passed away on Monday, June 7 at the age of 90. During his tenure at UGA, Firth served as interim dean of the College, interim director of the Division of Academic Assistance, and chairman of the Department of Curriculum and Supervision, now the Department of Lifelong Education, Administration, and Policy. His knowledge in the fields of instructional supervision, curriculum development, and educational leadership impacted education across the globe.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 19 at Athens First United Methodist Church.
