Summer 2021 grades due Aug. 9

The deadline to submit all summer 2021 grades is noon on Monday, Aug. 9.

Please check the following items before submitting grades:

  • Review your class roll(s) in Athena for each course you taught this semester and verify that you are listed as the official instructor of record. If there are multiple instructors of record for a course, make sure to coordinate with the other instructors as to who will be responsible for submitting grades by the deadline.
  • Students who are registered as audits or who withdrew from a course will already have pre-assigned grades of V (for audit) and W (for withdrawn).
  • Review students with variable credit hours. Students enrolled for an improper number of credit hours must be directed to the Office of the Registrar to correct the hours before a grade is assigned.
  • Review the class roll to determine if there are any students who have been attending your course(s) but are not appearing on the roll. Students not on a class roll, but who have been attending, should not be allowed to continue in class until cleared by the Office of the Registrar.
  • If a student appears on your grade roll, he or she requires a grade even if he or she stopped attending the course.

Please be aware that if grades are not submitted by the deadline, a grade of NG (for not graded) will be assigned to the student. Because NG is not an official grade, you will need to initiate a change of grade for each student needing a grade through the change of grade (prior term) option in Athena. The grade change will then require approval by the designated approver, typically the department head, before it can post to the student’s academic history. Please remember that not submitting grades on time can affect a student’s academic standing at UGA as well as his or her financial aid for the next term.

If you are a faculty member with graduate students who are completing research or dissertation hours, remember that those research and dissertation hours require you to enter a grade for all students.
