Attend the Fall 2021 ITT Academy on Oct. 1

  • Date: Friday, Oct. 1
  • Time: Noon-1 p.m.
  • Location: Aderhold Hall Room 206 (Zoom link available for those who prefer to join virtually)

Good teaching centers so much of the work done in the Mary Frances Early College of Education. An aspiration of everyone who teaches in the College, good teaching also orients the very mission of numerous programs our students pursue. For as much as we value good teaching, it also can seem mysterious. What do we understand about the various perspectives held by those in the College about what good teaching is, how we know it when we see it, and how we value it—both across departments and within programs? Join us for deliberation and discussion on these and related questions. All who attend will be invited and encouraged to participate in what should be a rich and provocative conversation.

Rather than a lecture series, “Unsiloed: Conversations About Teaching” is a series of interactive conversations led by invited faculty speakers from across the College who will each ask different questions about what we are learning from our teaching right now, the unexpected elements they have encountered over time, and the ways they are stretching into something new or next. What are we learning now? What does that mean for our learning alongside our students? What are we slowing down to see and lean into? Or, what is inspiring our next innovations? Each session will invite and excite rich discussion, pursue real questions, and yield opportunities for collaboration, connection, and next thinking.

Seating will be carefully distributed around the room, and, as in all UGA spaces, masks will be highly encouraged. A Zoom link will be available for those who prefer to join virtually. Please contact Nic Holt with questions or to request a Zoom link.
