Birth registers from historically endangered Georgia nursing home available online

The Georgia B. Williams Nursing Home in Camilla, Georgia, and the Digital Library of Georgia have worked together to digitize and present birth registers of the mothers and babies born at the Georgia B. Williams Nursing Home between 1949-1971. The Georgia B. Williams Nursing Home was the first and only maternity shelter where African American women were allowed by local doctors to receive midwife delivery for their newborns.

The collection can be viewed on the Digital Library of Georgia’s website.
