Call for nominations: 2022 Hill Award and Hill Fellow Award
UGA’s Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach (PSO) is accepting nominations for the 2022 Walter Bernard Hill Award and Hill Fellow Award. Established in 1992, the annual awards recognize public service faculty whose work demonstrates distinguished achievement in public service and outreach programs at UGA.
Nominations are due to PSO by 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1.
The Walter Bernard Hill Award recognizes the awardee’s significant contributions to the improvement of the quality of life in Georgia or elsewhere of an order that greatly exceeds the normal accomplishments of a productive faculty member. A maximum of five scholars will be selected, and each awardee will receive a permanent salary increase beyond the raise provided through the normal allocation process, a medallion, and a framed certificate.
The Walter Bernard Hill Fellow Award is UGA’s highest award in public service and outreach and is comparable to a distinguished professorship. It recognizes sustained, distinguished, and superb achievements in university public service and outreach, and contributions to improving the quality of life in Georgia or elsewhere. One scholar will be selected, and the awardee will receive a permanent salary increase beyond the raise provided through the normal allocation process, a supplementary fund for use in the advancement of his or her program of work, a medallion, and a framed certificate.
The awards will be presented at the annual PSO Meeting and Awards Luncheon, scheduled for Honors Week in April 2022 at the UGA Center for Continuing Education & Hotel. If you have any questions regarding the criteria or the process, please contact Steve Dempsey, associate vice president, at 706-542-6045 or via email.
