National Deaf Awareness Month
September is National Deaf Awareness Month, and the theme for International Week of Deaf People was “Celebrating Thriving Deaf Communities."
The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion recognizes the members of the deaf community in our College and encourages everyone to gain a greater understanding of the diverse culture and history surrounding this community, including American Sign Language (ASL). We are grateful for the ASL instructors in our College who are also a part of the deaf community and have created an informative handout with ASL facts.
We hope the handout and additional resources listed below will increase your awareness of the experiences of deaf individuals in our country.
