Attend UGA's Dialogues in Diversity on Oct. 7

The Office of Institutional Diversity is excited to host the biannual Dialogues in Diversity event from noon-1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7. Dialogues in Diversity is a lunchtime series that provides an opportunity for faculty and staff to discuss, share, and offer recommendations for enhancing diversity and inclusion across the University of Georgia campuses. Each semester, the series has a centralized theme and features a faculty member from the UGA community who provides commentary on the theme as a catalyst to encourage discussions about diversity, equity, and inclusion at UGA.

This semester, we are honored to have Booker T. Mattison, an assistant professor in UGA’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, serve as our speaker. He will show and discuss his short film titled “Ungubani,” which tells the story of a young Black man who puts himself at risk to save a young white woman in distress. The film is a tale of identity, perception, and race with a literary leitmotif.

Please register for this event via the Professional Education Portal (PEP) by Monday, Oct. 4. Select “Go to Calendar” on the PEP’s homepage banner to locate the correct session. Lunch will be provided. Dialogues in Diversity is not a part of the Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion program.
