EITS outage to impact library services on Oct. 23
Please share with your students:
EITS will conduct network maintenance that will result in complete outages of campus internet access and campus information systems on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 6 a.m.-11:59 p.m. This outage is expected to cause a major disruption to library services and resources, both on and off campus.
Please make note that unlike previous planned network maintenances where there were intermittent outages, this maintenance will result in a complete outage of access to services. UGA faculty, staff, and students should be aware of interruptions to library services, which will impact those accessing resources on campus or at home.
Access to digital resources such as databases, e-books, online journals, and more will be unavailable. The UGA Libraries website and online chat services will not be available. However, individuals can visit the GIL-Find website to access UGA’s catalog of holdings only. Faculty, staff, and students will not be able to login with their MyID to place books on hold or access full text resources. While patrons will be able to check out books and other reserves from the Main and Science Libraries, tech lending checkout at the Miller Learning Center will be suspended.
Most computers in the Libraries’ facilities, including the Miller Learning Center, require logins and will not be available during the outage.
Because Wi-Fi will not be available, laptops will not be able to connect to the internet. Additionally, WEPA printers will not be accessible.
Please make plans to access digital resources and other impacted services at another time.
