AI-Based Assessment in STEM Education Conference

  • PIs: Xiaoming Zhai, assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies Education; Joseph Krajcik, CREATE for STEM Institute director and professor, Michigan State University
  • Sponsor: National Science Foundation Conference Grant DRK-12 Program
  • Amount: $49,995

Congratulations to assistant professor Xiaoming Zhai for receiving a grant from the National Science Foundation Conference Grant DRK-12 Program.

Performance-based constructed-response items often prohibit timely feedback and hinders science teachers from using these assessments. However, artificial intelligence demonstrates great potential to meet this challenge. To discuss this practice further, experts in assessment, AI, and science education will gather for a two-day conference at the University of Georgia to generate knowledge of integrating AI in science assessment.
