Mary Frances Early releases 'The Quiet Trailblazer: My Journey as the First Black Graduate of the University of Georgia'

This past Tuesday, we celebrated Mary Frances Early’s (M.M.Ed ’62, Ed.S. ’67) release of her autobiography “The Quiet Trailblazer: My Journey as the First Black Graduate of the University of Georgia.”

In the autobiography, Early, a civil rights icon, music educator, and the first African American graduate of the University of Georgia, shared details of her life, advice for those who want to follow in her footsteps, and more.

The College would like to thank UGA women’s basketball coach Joni Taylor for moderating the event and Jasmine Gresham (B.S.Ed. ’21) for facilitating. Additionally, we’d like to thank our partners at the UGA Libraries, the University of Georgia Press, the UGA Alumni Association, and the Office of the President.

All are invited to purchase the autobiography—use code 08TRBLAZ21 by Friday, Oct. 15 to receive a 40% discount on the book and free shipping!
