Open Your Eyes and Wave Your Hands with Us: Deaf Culture and American Sign Language

Join the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as we celebrate the Deaf community with an enlightening session on Deaf culture and language featuring lecturer Amy Peterson, lecturer Brian Leffler, lecturer Debra Teesdale, and lecturer Laurie Achin from the Department of Communication Sciences and Special Education.

They will discuss common myths about the Deaf community and interesting facts about American Sign Language. Participants will learn some sign language in hopes they will engage in conversations with members of the Deaf community in the College and beyond.
