Grant development workshops in March

The College’s Office of Research and Graduate Education is offering workshops to enhance grant proposal funding success. Two different topics are offered with several different dates/times. All faculty are welcome to attend, but early-career stage faculty are especially encouraged to participate.

Topic 1: Funding Your Research Program

  • Session dates:
    • Thursday, March 17, 2:15-3:15 p.m.
    • Monday, March 21, 4:15-5:15 p.m.
  • Location: Zoom

This session will cover:

  • The benefits of external funding for your research program
  • How to locate potential funders for your research topics of interest using databases and search tools
  • The importance of mission match with the agency
  • How to read and understand the call for proposals to determine congruence with your project idea and budgetary needs

Topic 2: Grant Proposal Development Basics

  • Session dates:
    • Wednesday, March 23, 4:15-5:15 p.m.
    • Tuesday, March 29, 9:30-10:30 a.m.
    • Thursday, March 31, 1-2 p.m.
  • Location: Zoom

This session will provide:

  • Strategies for completing all key sections of a proposal
  • An overview of common ancillary components (e.g. biosketch)
  • The basics of budgets and budget justifications
  • The essential tool of a proposal writing timeline

The important theme of selling your idea and capabilities with a compelling argument and clear persuasive writing will be woven through the primary topics listed.
