Bierema receives Textbook Excellence Award
Laura Bierema, professor in the Department of Lifelong Education, Administration, and Policy, recently received a Textbook Excellence Award from the Textbook and Academic Authors Association.
Bierema is one of nine recipients in the category “2022 Textbook Excellence Award Winners (College)” for her book “Organization Development: An Action Research Approach, 2e.” She will be recognized at the organization’s awards ceremony in June.
Hasko inducted into UGA Teaching Academy
Victoria Hasko, associate professor in the Department of Language and Literacy Education, was recently inducted into the UGA Teaching Academy.
The program, formed in 1999, provides a forum for discussion and celebration of teaching excellence and is part of the Carnegie Foundation’s Teaching Academy Campus Program.
Luft elected president of National Science Teaching Association
Julie Luft, Athletic Association Professor of Science Education and Distinguished Research Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies Education, was recently elected president of the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA).
“I am honored to lead an organization dedicated to science teachers and science education. This organization was essential to me when I was a science teacher,” Luft said. “It was a resource for sound science instruction and an organization that gave me confidence to engage in inquiry instruction. As an academic, I have found NSTA to be progressive in connecting research and practice, and this will be a focal point of my work in NSTA in the years to come.”

Wang selected as an outstanding reviewer for AERA journal
Shiyu Wang, associate professor in the Department of Educational Psychology, was recently selected as the 2021 Outstanding Reviewer for the “Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics” (JEBS) by the American Educational Research Association. She was also selected as the 2020 Outstanding Reviewer for JEBS last year.
