Kudos: Zhai selected to serve on CADRE's classroom-based STEM assessment topical group
Xiaoming Zhai, assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies Education, was invited to serve as a core team member of the Community for Advancing Discovery Research in Education’s (CADRE) topical group to support the National Science Foundation’s Discovery Research PreK-12 program (DRK-12). The DRK-12 program aims to strengthen teaching and learning in STEM for K-12 teachers and students, with CADRE serving as its resource network.
CADRE invites leading scholars in the field and convenes this topical group to synthesize existing and emerging knowledge on classroom-based STEM assessment to prepare a brief for research, practice, and/or policy audiences. The core team will be central to the development of the brief by informing its design and content. Additionally, the team will ensure the synthesis is grounded in the field and reflects the work of the DRK-12 portfolio.
Core team members have been chosen to reflect various grade levels, subject areas, and specific expertise related to measurement/assessment. A steering committee and CADRE External Review Board members lead the topical group, and the steering committee will guide the process, serve as lead editors, and produce the final written product. CADRE will convene a secondary group to review and provide feedback on a draft of the synthesis, along with assuming primary responsibility for developing an action plan and timeline for completing the brief and coordinating the overall work, logistics, and communications of the group.
