Ramadan starts April 1
Ramadan is observed by Muslims around the world and is a month-long spiritual period of fasting and prayer. During this time, practicing Muslims will not eat or drink from dawn to dusk.
Ramadan celebration also often includes prayer well into the night. The month concludes with a festival called Eid-al-Fitr, a celebration to mark breaking the fast. This year, Ramadan starts Friday, April 1 and ends on Saturday, April 30.
