Research: O’Connor and alumna write paper explaining effects of daylight saving time transition on marathon run performance

Patrick O’Connor, professor in the College’s Department of Kinesiology, co-authored a paper detailing the effects of marathon run times on daylight saving time transition days.

He and co-author Mihaela Kancheva (B.S.Ed. ’19), a College alumna and current medical student at the University of Central Florida, found that run times averaged 12 minutes worse on the spring transition day and stayed the same on the fall transition day.
