Women’s History Month programming

Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture, and society. For the month of March, women from various cultures, races, and ethnicities across the country will partake in activities to honor women of the past, present, and future.

This year’s theme, “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope,” pays tribute to the ceaseless work of caregivers and frontline workers during the ongoing pandemic and recognizes the thousands of ways women of all cultures have provided both healing and hope throughout history.

The UGA Institute for Women’s Studies will host its annual film series to highlight the untold stories of women. Stephanie Evans, professor of Black women’s studies at Georgia State University and the keynote speaker for the Women’s History Month event, will discuss what she calls #HistoricalWellness—Black women’s traditions of simultaneously practicing inner peace and working to resist oppression.
