60th anniversary celebration of Mary Frances Early's graduation

Mary Frances Early, who became the first African American graduate of the University of Georgia in 1962, was honored with a luncheon on Tuesday.

“Today we celebrate one of our most iconic alumni, a true trailblazer and most importantly, a dear friend to all of us,” said President Jere W. Morehead.

Michelle Cook, senior vice provost for diversity and inclusion and strategic university initiatives, challenged attendees to continue Early’s work.
