Apply for COVID Impact Research Recovery Funding by Sept. 1

  • Submission deadline: Thursday, Sept. 1

In response to the prolonged research disruptions that faculty across disciplines, especially early career faculty, have experienced throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the Provost’s Office and Office of Research have committed funds for a competitive internal grant program to be awarded in fiscal year 2023, which began on July 1.

Proposals for COVID Impact Research Recovery Funding should describe disruptions to research projects resulting from the pandemic and how additional internal funding would enable the faculty member or research team to initiate or resume research and restore research trajectories that were slowed or interrupted due to COVID.

Examples of COVID disruptions include, but are not limited to:

  • Inability to conduct field work
  • Loss of access to human subjects or research settings (e.g., schools, clinics, hospitals, community organizations)
  • Inability to meet in-person with collaborators
  • Delays in clinical or laboratory-based research programs due to requirements to de-densify workspaces or work remotely
  • Travel restrictions that prevented or impaired ability to conduct field work, archival research, or other location-specific research or collaboration
  • Child or family care demands resulting in reduced time and energy to engage in research, scholarship, or submitting proposals

Individual faculty members or teams should submit proposals by Sept. 1 using the submission form on the Office of Research InfoReady site; the unique InfoReady submission link will be available on Monday, Aug. 1. Full program description and guidelines can be found on the Office of Research website.

Faculty in all ranks and tracks—including academic-rank, non-tenure track, and public service—are eligible to apply.

COVID Impact Research Recovery Funding is a partnership between the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, the Office of Faculty Affairs, and the Office of Research. Please direct any programmatic questions to the Office of Faculty Affairs.
