Lewis Ellison invited to serve on grant advisory committee

Tisha Lewis Ellison, an associate professor in the Department of Language and Literacy Education, has been invited to serve on the National Leadership Grant Advisory Committee for an Institute of Museum and Library Services grant project.

This two-year grant project, “Enriching Library Family Programming Using the Smithsonian’s Institution’s Talk with Me Toolkits,” will provide innovative opportunities for family engagement and literacy efforts in libraries working with underserved families in collaboration with the Family Place Libraries, the Goodling Institute for Research in Family Literacy at Penn State University, and the Smithsonian’s Office of Educational Technology.

The project will also help librarians expand their digital resources by developing their own collections. Lewis Ellison’s advisory committee duties consist of providing guidance and input on the redesign of the Smithsonian Institution’s Talk with Me Toolkits, as well as the evaluation, development of deliverables, dissemination activities, and sustainability plan.
