Barger, Dean Spangler quoted in WUGA segment

Dean Denise Spangler and Michael Barger, assistant professor in the Department of Educational Psychology, were quoted in a WUGA story about math anxiety.

They discussed a recent study co-authored by Barger about how parents’ use of person responses vs. process responses may affect children’s math achievement.

“I think it’s a really important topic because mathematics becomes a gatekeeper for so many students, particularly at the point of algebra in high school, in terms of what their future educational and career aspirations are,” Spangler said.

Cooper makes guest appearance on Neil deGrasse Tyson’s StarTalk podcast

Bud Cooper, clinical professor and clinical education coordinator in the Department of Kinesiology, recently appeared on StarTalk, a podcast hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrass Tyson, to talk about the effects of heat stroke.

Cooper discussed his research on heat illness in Georgia high school athletics and policy suggestions for making sports safer.
