Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur

The Jewish High Holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are celebrated on the following dates this year:

  • Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown on Sunday, Sept. 25 and ends after nightfall on Tuesday, Sept. 27
  • Yom Kippur begins at sundown on Tuesday, Oct. 4 and ends after nightfall on Wednesday, Oct. 5

Many of our faculty, staff, and students commemorate various religious events of importance. Our institutional practice is to make every reasonable effort to allow members of the University community to observe their religious holidays without academic penalty. The University encourages faculty members to consider major religious activities when preparing class activities and examinations to avoid conflict with academic requirements (view the policy).
