Faculty members receive SACES awards

Three faculty members and one program in the Department of Counseling and Human Development Services received awards from the Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (SACES).

Associate professor Brandee Appling, professor and admissions coordinator Deryl Bailey, and clinical associate professor and associate department head George McMahon, received awards, along with the doctoral program in counselor education and supervision.

Stefaniak wins two awards at international conference

Jill Stefaniak, an associate professor in the Department of Workforce Education and Instructional Technology, received the James W. Brown Publication Award from the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) for her book, “The Instructional Design Trainer’s Guide: Authentic Practices and Considerations for Mentoring ID and Ed Tech Professionals,” which was published by Routledge in 2022.

She also received first place in the Research and Theory Spotlight Competition for her paper, “Examining the Intersection Between Instructional Design Decision-Making and Problem-Solving of Ill-Structured Problems through Bounded Rationality.” The AECT’s International Convention was held Oct. 24-28.
