Campbell quoted in Southern Living

Linda Campbell, professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Development Services and director of the Center for Counseling and Personal Evaluation, was recently quoted in Southern Living about younger siblings.

A study found that younger siblings are typically more laid back than their older siblings, likely due to parents becoming more lenient with time. However, Campbell said that younger siblings may still behave like their older siblings.

“Some babies resent not being taken seriously,” she said. “They might become very responsible, like the oldest, or social, like the middle.”

Cheryl Fields-Smith, professor and graduate coordinator in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice, was recently quoted in an article from Parents.com outlining tips for Black families interested in homeschooling.

“Homeschooling has become such a refuge for many families, Black families in particular, that they don’t have to go to the under-resourced school that they were assigned,” Fields-Smith said in a quote to Times Magazine.
