Remembering retired faculty members John Hoge, Jim Wilson, and Joan Berryman
It is with great sadness that the Mary Frances Early College of Education shares the passing of three retired faculty members last month.
John Hoge, professor emeritus, died Dec. 17, 2022.
Hoge became a faculty member in 1988 and retired from UGA in 2009.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, East (4355 Lexington Road). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made by those who are able to the Michael J. Fox Foundation in Hoge’s name, or to a charity of their choice.

Jim Wilson, professor emeritus in the Department of Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies Education, died December 20, 2022.
Wilson served as a faculty member in mathematics education for over four decades, including as department head for 25 years. He retired as professor emeritus in 2015.
A funeral mass was held Tuesday, Dec. 27. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to either the St. Joseph’s Building Fund or the Jim Wilson Endowment Fund.

Joan Berryman, former director of the UGA Speech and Hearing Clinic, died December 31, 2022.
Berryman served as a faculty member in speech language pathology, as well as director of the UGA Speech and Hearing Clinic until her retirement.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10 at the Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, East. In lieu of flowers, she asked that contributions be made to the UGA Speech and Hearing Clinic or the Mississippi chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
