2023-24 Service-Learning Fellows program applications due March 17

  • Application deadline: Friday, March 17

The UGA Office of Service-Learning is now accepting applications for the 2023-24 Service-Learning Fellows program. This year-long faculty development program provides an opportunity for faculty to develop new service-learning courses or integrate service-learning into existing courses or academic programs. Service-learning is a form of experiential learning in which students apply academic knowledge through projects that address community needs.

Faculty selected for participation receive a $2,500 faculty development award and mentoring from experienced Service-Learning Fellows, as well as individualized support from the Office of Service-Learning. All UGA faculty members with an interest in service-learning are eligible. Previous experience with service-learning is not required.

As part of the application process, faculty propose a project for development during the fellowship year that can include a wide variety of approaches to service-learning implementation, such as developing a service-learning course in domestic field study, study abroad, courses on UGA’s extended campuses, and in programs of study with limited availability of service-learning courses. Complete application materials are available on the Office of Service-Learning website.

For questions related to applications, please contact Paul Matthews, associate director of the Office of Service-Learning, via email or phone at 706-542-0892. The Office of Service-Learning is jointly supported by the Office of Instruction and Public Service and Outreach.
