Reminder: Seeking additional nominations for University Council and committees

  • Nomination deadline: Monday, Feb. 27

We are seeking nominations, including self-nominations, for two open seats for University Council (UC) and several other University and UC standing committees. Please send nominations (other/self) to Janette Hill, Faculty Senate president.

UC: Two new members needed

The University Council is comprised of faculty, staff, and student representatives and is charged in the University Council bylaws with establishing policies and enacting rules and regulations as it deems appropriate for the interests and welfare of the University of Georgia and its academic community. Additionally, the Council acts in advisory capacity to the president and serves as an outlet through which the campus community can voice an opinion regarding University policies and initiatives.

  • One nominee needed to serve a three-year term (this year: beginning July 1, 2023-June 30, 2026)
  • One nominee needed to serve a one-year term (to complete a 3-year term: July 1, 2023-June 30, 2024)

President’s Faculty Advisory Committee: One new member needed

The Faculty Advisory Committee provides for the systematic voicing of suggestions regarding matters of concern to the University community and serves as a channel for communication between the faculty and the administrative officers of the University.

  • Nominees must be members of the faculty and have the rank of associate professor or professor

Program Review and Assessment Committee: Two new members needed

  • Appointees should be available to serve for two years (August 1, 2023-July 31, 2025)
  • Appointees must be senior faculty (i.e., at the rank of associate professor, professor, public service associate, senior public service associate, associate research scientist, senior research scientist, clinical associate professor, clinical professor, or senior academic professional, etc.)
  • Appointees do not need to be members of the University Council

Curriculum Committee members do not have to be University Council members. They must hold the terminal degree for their discipline.

Faculty Admissions Committee members must hold academic rank (tenure track) but do not have to be University Council members.

Human Resources Committee members must be University Council members and elected by Council representatives of their respective schools or colleges.

University Libraries Committee members do not have to be University Council members.
