UGA, College of Education see gains in R&D spending in FY22

For the first time in its history, the University of Georgia surpassed a half-billion dollars in research and development spending in fiscal year 2022. With total expenditures of $545.6 million—representing a jump of more than 10% from the previous year.

Fueled by strong increases in sponsored research funding from multiple federal agencies, the one-year jump of $51.7 million is UGA’s largest single-year increase in recent history and the first time since FY17 that R&D expenditures have grown by more than 10% in a single year.
